Come and join us Friday night for a poolside ‘Mix and Mingle’
and get to know the Oriya Youth attending the OSA convention.
The theme is a Hawaiian Luau so come in beach (poolside) gear
and be prepared to be transported to Hawaii. We have planned
activities to help the youth make new aquaintance and
renew old friendships and kick-off for a fun-filled weekend.
Things to remember: Swim or beach wear, tonnes of enthusiasm!

Event: Brainiacs (Youth Quiz Bowl)

If you enjoy playing or watching Jeopardy,
this activity is a must for you. We will have
both individual as well as team activities.
In order to encourage our younger children to
participate in this event, we are having a special
session just for ages 7-10. We would also like to
encourage our older youth and parents to participate.
We would like to have a healthy competition with
mixed groups such as adults and youth. The Quiz Bowl
will include questions pertaining to American,
Indian and Oriya culture, history etc.

So you missed 'Madris-Gras' this year? Dont fret! ‘Odi-Gras’ is here.
A fun-filled carnival with many cute games and activities for all ages
- such as face painting, ring-the-bottle and balloon fights and even a clown.
The adults are sure to scream with joy at the sight of their very own "chakka" with "panna dukana", "chaha stand".
"gup chup - chaat wala", and all.

Event: Viva La Vivacious (Youth Dance)

Come and dance the night away with your old friends as
well as the new ones you have just made. The only requirement
for admission to the dance is a smile on your face. Make sure
you put in a request to the D.J. for your favorite song.
The music will be a mixture of Indian and American.
Please feel free to email us with music requests.
Things to remember: Dress to impress, dancing shoes, and most importantly, having fun!

Event: Tiny Tot Talent Show

This event is specifically designed for our youth ages 3-7 years old.
They can sing, dance, do karate, fashion show, gymnastics etc.
One thing is for sure, no matter what kids these ages do, they look adorable.
The event will be held in the Hyatt Regency, Regency Rm J in a child friendly atmosphere.

Keeping the theme of the convention, "Diversity",
we are planning to introduce some activities
where both athletic and non-athletic kids can be involved.
There are three different sports categories for the children ages 3-7, 8-12, and 13-18. Email us and give us some suggestions regarding
the types of sports activities you would like to see.
Things to remember:
Athletic gear, sun screen, winning attitude!

Event: Cruise Connection (River Cruise)

Venue: Detroit River

Time: Bus leaves PAC at 2:00pm
|
Enjoy the spectacular view of the U.S. on one side and Canada on the other from the
middle of the Detroit River. Participants will enjoy activities
on a 2 hour boat ride on the Detroit River. Participants must sign
in at PAC lobby by 1:45 pm.
The cost of the boat ride is 15.00 per person.
Things to remember: In accordance with Homeland Security policies,
ALL guests must provide proper valid identification upon request.
So dont forget to bring your passport or other ID!

This event will run simultaneously with the Adult Mehefil.
This is open to all between the ages of 8-25 who would
like to have some fun and show their talents. As a group,
we possess many different and diverse talents among us.
You can tell jokes, do skits, sing, dance, play an instrument,
and do a fashion show etc…. We would like to encourage group
participation, if possible. The only pre-requisites for
attending the Youth Entertainment Night are to be ready and
willing to have lots of fun and to encourage your friends
while they entertain.

A showcase of our Oriya and Indian heritage and diveristy within the community at large,
these programs are bound to thrill and entrall crowds of all ages. Be prepared to thump along
to heart-stomping music, laugh till you cry at the comedies and parodies and be transported
into the cultural wonderland of Orissa.

We will also have a room available for parents with
small children who may need a quiet place to feed
their children or help them settle down for a nap.
We will also fill this room up with toys for young tots
and toddlers, so that they have a special of their own.
Parents, you will be responsible for the safety and care
of your babies. However, if you would like, you may hire
some trained baby-sitters that might be available through Ford PAC.
